Drop-in Program

Laughing Gas Improv

Ever wanted to try improv? Laughing Gas Improv is a fun, low-pressure way to step out of your comfort zone, meet new people, and unleash your creativity. There are no scripts and no lines to memorize, just a group of supportive people playing games and creating hilarious scenes together.

Join us on the first and third Monday of each month from 7:00–8:30 pm. This drop-in program is open to everyone, regardless of experience. Participants must be 18 years or older and hold a Shuswap Theatre membership ($10).

Relaxed Performances

Everyone Deserves a Night at the Theatre

For some people, the expectations of a traditional theatre experience can make attending a performance stressful or even impossible. Our Relaxed Performances are designed to change that.

With a welcoming atmosphere, flexible audience expectations, and thoughtful adjustments to the environment, these performances allow individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, dementia, and families with young children to experience the wonder of live theatre in a way that feels safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Come as you are. Move when you need to. Make some noise. Take a break. The show will still be there, and you'll always be welcome here.

What to Expect at a Relaxed Performance

  • Audience members are welcome to move around, make noise, and enter or exit the auditorium as needed.
  • Lobby doors may open early to allow time to become familiar with the space.
  • A quiet relief area is available for anyone who needs a break from the performance.
  • House lights remain partially on rather than going completely dark.
  • Loud sounds, abrupt lighting changes, and special effects may be softened or adjusted where possible.
  • Pyrotechnics may be modified or removed.
  • All adjustments are made thoughtfully to preserve the integrity and enjoyment of the production.
